Alpine Country Club Plays All Month! In June, Alpine Country Club had a "think pink" motivation to help fight breast cancer. On June 10th, they held their ladies' Play for P.I.N.K. event. The golfers played at Alpine, the tennis players joined the women at Montammy for their Round Robin and then returned to Alpine for lunch. It was a spectacular day with four "power rangers" roaming the course: Their President, two men who have enough pink ribbon shirts between them to outfit the entire field and one of Alpine's dearest supporters, Michael Koblitz, who lost his wife, Ellen, (Alpine's PFT chair for many years) to breast cancer.
Chef Nick Gatti, who is beyond wonderful to them, put out a wow buffet that would make the finest restaurant jealous. Overseeing the lavish display of food was a huge PINK ribbon ice sculpture. Janet Ginsburg, of Dogwood Lane Designs, created - and donated - small pails of lush flowers that turned the center of each table into a pool of pink.
Then, on Father's Day, Alpine hosted its annual Men for P.I.N.K. event. It's a par-three tournament within a tournament. While they played the Father-Child, they also competed on Alpine's three par threes. Prizes were awarded for Closest to the Pin on 5, a car for a Hole-in-One on 8, and $10,000 for a Hole-in-One on 16. There were goodie bags, pink ribbons for all and chances to win tickets to sporting events. They participate to support the women in their lives and to us that makes them heroes.
All in all, June at Alpine was a power Play for P.I.N.K. A lot of money was raised, but more than that, they gave hope their best shot.
